Capitol Cinema is located at 54 Kepler Street Warrnambool.

What about Parking?

There are 2 hour meter parking on Kepler Street out the front of the cinema, as well as 2 and 4 hour metered parking available in the Ozone car park which can be accessed off Kepler street and also Timor Street

What are the cinema's opening hours?

The cinema OPENS 10-15 minutes BEFORE the start of the first session and closes 5-10 minutes AFTER the last session ends. The times will vary from week to week.

Can I find out which movies will be playing at Capitol Cinemas?

Movie schedules are determined on Mondays for films opening on Thursday of the same week. Schedules are posted on the Capitol Cinemas website by Tuesday evening. There are also session times available to listen to on the phone. Additionally, films that are seen as 'Coming Soon' on the website are expected to screen on the allocated time, but release dates may change on any given day.

Do Capitol Cinemas have wheelchair access?

Cinemas 2 and 3 have wheelchair access. Movies that are screening in a downstairs cinema will have (SDS) next to the title of the movie or an asterix next to a specific session time. We rotate all our films between the upstairs and downstairs cinemas so it is advisable to check with a staff member prior to your session.

Do Capitol Cinemas accept group bookings?

Yes, please contact us and we will be able to help you out with all group booking inquiries.

How long will a movie play at Capitol Cinemas?

The length of time any film will play at Capitol Cinemas is based on the amount of business the film generates, contractual obligations and time of the year. Basically, the more popular a film is with patrons, the longer it will play. There is no way to predict exactly how long a movie will play. Use our website to get information on what films will be playing up to five days in advance.

Why isn't a certain movie playing at Capitol Cinemas?

Unfortunately it is not possible for us to play every film released because we do not have enough screens. We do however try and get a range of movies to cater for most audiences.

What do the different film censorship classification mean?

The different Film Classifications refer to the content of a movie and to what audience the movie is suited to. For example G rated films cater for a General audience and is appropriate for all ages, up to MA15+ and R18+ films which are legally restrictive. If you're unsure about the restrictions of some films and if they apply to you, please feel free to contact us or check out the Australian Classification website here: http://www.classification.gov.au/Pages/Home.aspx

Can I advertise on the screen at Capitol Cinemas?

Yes you can advertise on our screens, please email or call us and we will be able to help you out.

How do I apply for work at Capitol Cinemas?

Simply bring in your resume and hand it to our friendly staff or have a chat with one of the managers on duty!

Does a ticket ensure a seat reservation?

Your ticket will ensure you a seat in the cinema, however we do not have allocated seating for all sessions. Opening week for popular films will usually have allocated seating, and therefore booking or purchasing tickets prior to the session time is advised (can be done in person or over the phone). For most other films we screen, we still advise that if you have a preferred seat in the cinema, that you arrive early for your movie.

Can I buy gift vouchers for Capitol Cinemas?

Yes, here at the Capitol we sell and accept a range of Village Gift Vouchers, as well as Gift Cards that can be loaded with any amount of value (between $10-$250) to be used here in Warrnambool. Please note that as we are a regional site, we are unable to process 'Village Gift Cards' (that look like a credit card) as well as 'E-Vouchers'. If in doubt, please don't hesitate to speak with our staff prior to purchasing from other sources to avoid disappointment.

Do Capitol Cinemas accept competitor and third party vouchers?

If a voucher has Village Cinemas on it we do. Please also note however, we are unable to process Village Cinema 'Gift Cards' (that look like a credit card), as well as all types of 'E-Vouchers' (vouchers purchased online from various associations) with exceptions being our affiliation with Hollywood Movie Money, and Optus vouchers specific to Warrnambool. If in doubt, please don't hesitate to speak with our staff prior to purchasing from other sources or viewing a film, to avoid disappointment.

Do Capitol Cinemas accept EFTPOS and credit cards?

Yes, we accept all credit cards and EFTPOS cards, but however do not accept Diners or American Express.

Can I watch a 3D movie without the glasses?

The way 3D movies are created is to have an image for the left eye, and another for the right eye. When you try and watch a 3D movie without the glasses you will see both images on top of each other. This is quite distracting and very hard to watch as it essentially makes the entire film seem blurry. Most big releases we will have in both 2D and in 3D.

Why do your glasses need to be reused?

Dolby 3D glasses are worth 30 times more than a pair of RealD glasses, this is why they are not thrown away after each session. After use they are fully sanitised, stacked and reused. In a sense, Dolby 3D is a more environmentally friendly option compared to some other 3D systems as we do not throw out hundreds of used pairs of glasses.

I have ReadD glasses from another cinema, will they work at your cinema?

No, Capitol Cinemas use Dolby 3D which splits the light in a different way to RealD, and as a result your glasses won't work. As you enter the cinema the usher will give you a pair of glasses to use specifically for our movies, and at the end of the film please put your glasses into a basket provided, so they can be fully sanitised and reused later.

How does Closed Captions (CC) differ from Open Captions?

Closed captions are displayed on a small LCD screen in front of a guest that clip onto the cup holder of the seat. The guest lines the LCD screen so it appears to be just under the screen. When the movie starts text will appear on the screen of what the actors are saying or what noise might be happening in the background, essentially acting as subtitles for the film. Open Captions is where everyone can see as it is on the screen, particularly appropriate when translating foreign languages. Be aware that not all films have Closed Captioning abilities, and when in doubt, please ask one of our staff members.
