Digital projection is coming to the foreground. New technology now means we have the capabilities to screen fantastic quality high definition digital content. This superior format means no more scratchy or jumping prints and greater dynamic range with surround sound. This is also the basis for the new 3D format. Capitol Cinemas is totally digital and currently the most advanced cinema in the whole of the Village circuit.

The length of time any film will play at Capitol Cinemas is based on the amount of business the film generates, contractual obligations and time of the year. Basically, the more popular a film is with patrons, the longer it will play. There is no way to predict exactly how long a movie will play. Use our website to get information on what films will be playing up to five days in advance.

Unfortunately it is not possible for us to play every film released because we do not have enough screens. We do however try and get a range of movies to cater for most audiences.

The different Film Classifications refer to the content of a movie and to what audience the movie is suited to.

No, Capitol Cinemas use Dolby 3D which splits the light in a different way to RealD as a result your glasses won't work. As you enter the cinema the usher will give you a pair of glasses to use for the movie and at the end of the movie you are required to put your glasses into the basket so they can be fully sanitised and reused.

Dolby 3D glasses are worth 30 times more than a pair of RealD glasses, this is why they are not thrown away after each session. After use they are fully sanitised, stacked and reused. Dolby 3D is a more environmentally friendly option compared to some other 3D systems as we do no not throw out hundreds of used pairs of glasses

The way 3D movies are created is to have an image for the left eye, and another for the right eye. When you try and watch a 3D movie without the glasses you will see both images on top of each other, This is quite distracting and very hard to watch. Most big releases we will have in both 2D and in 3D.

Closed captions are displayed on a small LCD screen in front of a guest that clip onto the cup holder of the seat. The guest lines the LCD screen so it appears to be just under the screen and when the movie starts text will appear on the screen of what the actors are saying or what noise might be happening in the background. Open Captions everyone can see as it is on the screen.

Cinema 3 is equipped with Closed Captions, should someone be hard of hearing and wants to watch the movie they are able to do so with the use of Closed Captions. Closed captions display on a small LCD screen what the actors are saying as well as sound effects. Should you need one of these please ask a staff member.

Your ticket will ensure you a seat however we do not have allocate seating. Popular films will generate longer lines for tickets and gaining entry into the cinema. We advise to get a preferred seat we suggest you arrive early for your movie.
